OKC Elite Code of Conduct
I. Practice
a. Practice Schedule will be in Group Me. Players are expected to make it to practice. With limited time to teach offense and defense each practice is vital. First Tournament is at the end of January. That is not much time to get ready.
b. If are not going to attend practice it is expected that you will let us know via text or in the Group Me.
c. Practice is in Mustang. They are kind enough to give us field access and lights. It gets dark early and the lights are required.
d. Conduct at practice is important. There are 6 coaches and over 50 athletes. We do not have time to deal with horseplay or disrespect. Continued disrespect will result in removal from practice or the team entirely.
e. IF A RIDE IS NEEDED TO PRACTICE! We need to know the morning of the practice scheduled. Planning out routes etc. takes time.
II. Parents Expectations
a. Please let the coaches coach and the athletes play. If there is an issue at a tournament feel free to contact Coach Mills after a 48 hour waiting period.
III. Fees
a. Please make sure to either pay the 150 in sign up fees OR do your BEST to fundraise. It actually costs much more than this, but we work diligently to make this affordable for all players.
b. Please share fundraisers and participate when possible. Again, traveling is expensive. We keep our fees low and rely on fundraising.
IV. Playtime
a. This is a competitive team. We work hard to develop each athlete in practice, but in the end, it is a competition. We aim to teach, mentor, coach, and produce results on the field.
b. When possible, we will do our best to rotate. When your number is called it’s your time to shine. We will always make play decisions on what gives us the best chance to win with the best 7 on the field. These are very competitive tournaments and excellence is always expected.
c. Embrace competition with your teammates in a respectful manner. Trash talking / putting others down is not tolerated.
d. Lastly, it takes different players more time to be developed. Someone who is struggling to find playtime may be our best player by year end. Trust the process.
V. Rides for Travel
a. RIDES We realize that not everyone can travel to every tournament. We will do our best to give rides to those that need it with limited room in our vehicles. Please let us know well ahead of time if a ride is needed.
VI. Tournament Attendance
a. The coaches work to create rotations for Offense / Defense diligently. If you are unable to attend a tournament we need to know by Tuesday the week of the event.
VII. AirBNB
a. For athletes that travel with the coaches we typically rent AirBNBs. These are expensive and a huge reason we fundraise.
b. Lights out is 10:30. It is important to sleep when you have a tournament the next day. A warning may be issued. Please respect others who need their rest before the tournament. Consequences can be removal from play the following day.
c. You are expected to keep your space clean. Throw out all trash and collect all your belongings. If we cannot be respectful then you will not play the following day.
d. Any damaged done by horseplay to the rental will result in removal from the team and parents will be contacted.
e. Remember to send your child with funds for food, etc. We will cook for the boys typically to keep costs down.
VIII. General Conduct
a. Treat coaches, adults, team mates, property AND opponents with respect. Disrespect will not be tolerated. Win and lose with class.
b. Be coachable. Athletes must be willing to take coaching. An uncoachable child will never compete at the highest levels.
c. No illegal substances of any kind allowed at practice, tournaments, or during travel with the team.
IX. Equipment
a. Official OKC Elite padded helmets will be provided and must be turned back in after tournaments.
b. The athlete is expected to have a mouthpiece, jersey, and cleats. Replacement Jerseys are 80 dollars.
